Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
In-person, Online
Hi, I'm Ivy. I am a registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. As a neurodivergent individual and a daughter of immigrants, I understand firsthand the importance of acknowledging one’s cultural context and creating a safe space to explore themselves at their own pace. I believe that the therapeutic relationship itself can be healing if clients feel seen and heard. Progress is not always linear, and sometimes our goals shift. That is okay! I value collaboration in treatment planning and am eager to learn alongside my clients by using a strengths-based approach.
My work at nonprofit organizations and my practicum at Children’s Institute Inc. has made me comfortable working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and caregivers. My experiences focus on the impact of early adverse childhood experiences, boundaries, attachment, stress, loneliness, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, and improving communication and emotional expression.
I use Psychodynamic and CBT approaches to unravel childhood disruptions to help clients understand themselves in the present and to develop healthy coping mechanisms for the future. I also work by utilizing different techniques from different therapeutic modalities, like ACT and MAP, to help create the growth my clients are looking for.
